Requesting an employment letter

/app/workforce·/app/workforce/requests/[requestId]·Requires an active connection to the employer·Requires at least one employment period your employer has confirmed

If you need written confirmation of your job from an employer you are connected to, you ask for it in your own account. Lexpoint drafts the letter from the employment record your employer has already confirmed, and your employer issues it.

You never enter the employer’s workspace to do this. The whole request lives at Employment in your account.

  • The connection must be active. An ended or revoked connection cannot be used.
  • Your employer must have confirmed at least one employment period. Nothing can be drafted from a draft record.
  • Your connection must use the current consent version. If it was created under an older one, you will be told to reconnect — ask your employer for a fresh invitation.

If any of those is missing, the page shows No letter-ready connection instead of the request form.

KindWhat it covers
Employment confirmation (current role)Your current confirmed role only. There is no choice of scope — it is always the current period.
Immigration-purpose letterYour current role, or your history, depending on what you choose

For an immigration-purpose letter you also choose what to include:

ChoiceResult
Current role onlyOne letter covering the current confirmed period
Full history as one timeline PDFEvery confirmed period, assembled into a single document
A separate letter for each confirmed roleOne letter per confirmed period

Which of these an application needs is not something Lexpoint decides. If you are unsure, check immigratic.com or speak to a representative before requesting.

  1. Go to Employment.
  2. Under Request a letter, choose the Employer. Only connections that are ready for a letter appear here.
  3. Choose the Kind.
  4. For an immigration-purpose letter, choose What to include.
  5. Select Request letter.

The request appears under Your requests straight away, and drafting starts.

Employment → Letters. A letter request needs an active employer connection.
Employment → Letters. A letter request needs an active employer connection.

Open a request from Your requests to see its status and the letters attached to it.

StatusWhat it means
PreparingThe request has been made and Lexpoint is drafting from your confirmed record
With employerThe draft is ready and is with your employer
With RCICAn immigration-purpose letter has been routed for regulated review
IssuedYour employer has issued the letter. It is final and available to download
DeclinedYour employer did not issue it. If they gave a reason, it is shown on the request

Each letter attached to the request shows its own state. While the request is open you can Preview draft once the draft file is ready — this is the draft, not the issued document. When the request reaches Issued, Download appears and gives you the final PDF.

While a request is open, Cancel request appears on the request page. Confirm the prompt and the request is withdrawn, and you are returned to Employment. You can request the same kind again afterwards.

Once a letter has been issued, it cannot be cancelled.

If the facts on a draft are wrong, the fix is on the record, not the letter — see Your employment record.

Frequently asked questions

Can I write or edit the letter myself?

No. The letter is drafted by Lexpoint from the employment period your employer confirmed, and your employer issues it. You choose the kind of letter and which periods it covers, and you can read the draft.

How many letters can I have in progress at once?

One of each kind per employer — one employment confirmation and one immigration-purpose letter. Once a request is issued or declined, you can request that kind again.

Why can I not request a letter even though I am connected?

The usual reason is that no employment period has been confirmed yet, so there is nothing to draft from. The other is that your connection predates the current consent version, in which case you need to reconnect with a new invitation.

What does Lexpoint decide about the content of my letter?

Nothing beyond assembling the facts your employer confirmed. Lexpoint does not decide what an immigration application requires. For that, see immigratic.com or speak to a representative.
