Leaving an employer

/app/settings/associations

A workforce connection lasts until someone ends it. It does not expire, and it does not close itself when a job ends — if you have left an employer, ending the connection is a step you take yourself.

You can end any active connection at any time, without asking your employer.

  1. Go to Settings → Associations → Employer.
  2. Open the Employer section, on the Active sub-tab.
  3. Find the employer and select End.
  4. A confirmation appears, naming the employer and warning that they will lose access to information shared through the connection, including their view of you on their workforce list. Confirm it.

The connection moves to the Ended sub-tab, with the date.

  • The connection status becomes ended, with the reason recorded as employee left, and the end date stamped on it.
  • Both consent scopes are cleared to false.
  • The employer workspace stops loading anything about you. Your worker page no longer opens and you are off their workforce list.
  • The connection is marked as no longer seat-eligible on the employer’s account.
  • Lexpoint emails both sides: your employer’s contact for the connection, and you. Your confirmation email is governed by Lexpoint’s own settings, so an employer cannot disable it.
  • The change is written to an append-only audit record, along with the scopes that were in force immediately before.
  • It does not delete the employment periods your employer recorded, or any letter they already issued. Those are the employer’s own business records.
  • It does not touch anything in your account. Your profile, ImmiReport, documents, and any case were never part of the connection and are unaffected.
  • It does not notify anyone other than the two parties.

End the connection and an open letter request stops going anywhere: creating a request and refreshing a draft both check that the connection is active, and both fail with This connection is no longer active once it is not. If you are waiting on a letter, let it be issued first, then end the connection. A letter that has already been issued stays available on its request.

Not all of these are things you do — some are set by your employer or by the system.

Two other states exist on new connections that are not yet complete — one waiting on you, one waiting on the employer. A connection you have not accepted is not a connection: nothing about you loads for the employer until you have consented and the acceptance is recorded.

Ended and revoked connections stay on the Ended list with their dates, so you keep a record of who you were connected to and when.

An invitation you did not accept is not a connection, and there is nothing to end. It stays pending until it expires — by default 14 days — or until your employer cancels it. See Accepting a workforce invitation.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need my employer's permission to end a workforce connection?

No. Ending it is yours to do, from Settings, and it takes effect immediately. Lexpoint notifies your employer that it ended, but they cannot stop it or reverse it.

Does leaving my job end the connection automatically?

No. The connection is a Lexpoint record, not a payroll feed. It stays active until you end it or your employer ends it. If you have left a job, ending the connection is a separate step you should take.

Can I undo ending a connection?

No. To reconnect, your employer sends a new workforce invitation and you accept it again, which creates a new connection with a new consent record.

Will my employer be told that I ended the connection?

Yes. Lexpoint emails the person at the employer who set the connection up, and emails you a confirmation. The employer cannot switch off your confirmation email.
