Cases shared with you
A client can make you their delegate on one of their cases — a spouse, a parent, a friend they trust. It gives you View access: you follow the case from your own Lexpoint account and can contact their firm about it. It stays their case.
The client starts this and signs a consent. Their side is described in Add a delegate.
Accept the invitation
Section titled “Accept the invitation”- Open the email headed
invited you to be a delegate and choose Review invitation. The email names the client and their firm, and shows when the invite expires. It does not name the case. - Sign in with the address the invitation was sent to. If you are signed out, the link opens the create-account page: create an account with that address, or choose Sign in if you already have one. Either way you return to the invitation.
- The page reads
invited you to act as their delegate with , and lists Invited by, Firm, and Access — View · one case — then What you’ll be able to do. - Choose Accept.
- A Verify your phone number panel follows. Verify it under Account → phone so the firm can match your calls. Without a verified number, calls from you are not tied to the case.
Nothing opens until you choose Accept. The client receives an email that you accepted.

What View access covers
Section titled “What View access covers”- Following the case. The card is your whole view of it in Lexpoint. It does not open the case, its documents, or its forms.
- Contacting the firm. You phone or email the firm named on the card about this case. The firm may discuss the case with you and record those calls and emails on it.
- Nothing on the client’s behalf. You cannot give instructions, make decisions, or sign anything for the client.
When access ends
Section titled “When access ends”The client can remove your access at any time, and so can the firm. From then on the card no longer appears on your Cases list. The same happens if the case is deleted.

Frequently asked questions
Why does the invitation email not name the case?
The client typed your address, so the email names only them and their firm. The case number and program appear on your Cases list after you accept.
Can I accept from a different email address?
No. You must be signed in with the address the invitation was sent to. If you are signed in as someone else, the invitation page offers Sign in with the invited address.
Can I open the case, its documents, or its forms?
No. In Lexpoint a shared case appears only as a summary card on your Cases list. The card does not open the case. For anything else, contact the firm named on the card.
How long does an invitation last?
14 days. The email shows the expiry date. After that the link reads This invite has expired, and the client has to sign a new consent.
