Leaves and interruptions

/app/settings/associations

Lexpoint has no leave record. There is no vacation, parental-leave, or unpaid-leave field on an employment record, and nothing in your account lets you add one.

This page exists so you do not go looking for a feature that is not there, and so you know how a break in employment is actually represented today.

Through the employment periods on your record, and only through them.

An employment period has a start date and, once it is closed, an end date. If your employer wants a break to be visible, they close the period before it and open a new one after it. The gap between the two dates is the break. That is the whole mechanism.

If your employer does not close and reopen a period, the break is not recorded anywhere — your record shows one continuous period across it. Neither outcome is a judgment by Lexpoint about your employment; it reflects only what your employer entered.

An employment letter is drafted from the periods your employer has confirmed. So:

  • A break your employer represented as two periods can appear, because the letter is drawn from the dates on those periods.
  • A break your employer did not represent that way will not appear.

If the dates on your record do not match what actually happened, the correction is on the record — tell your employer, and they record it as a new period. See Your employment record.

Frequently asked questions

Can I record a vacation or a parental leave on my Lexpoint employment record?

No. There is no leave field on the employment record and nothing on your side of the product to record one. Only your employer can change the record, and the only way a break appears is as a gap between employment periods.

Will a leave show up on an employment letter?

Only if your employer represented it by closing one employment period and opening another. A letter is drafted from the confirmed periods, so an unrecorded break does not appear.

Who decides what leave I am entitled to?

Not Lexpoint. Entitlements are between you, your employer, and the law that applies to you. Lexpoint only records employment periods.
