Employment periods
An employment record is a series of periods. Each period holds one set of terms: role, place, and pay. When terms change, you start a new period instead of overwriting the old one. Letters are drafted from confirmed periods only.
Periods live on the Employment tab of a worker’s page.
Period states
Section titled “Period states”| State | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Draft | Being filled in. A thin bar shows how complete it is. It cannot be used for a letter |
| Current | Confirmed and in force today |
| Upcoming | Confirmed, starting on a future date. Today’s job stays current until then |
| Closed | Ended, or replaced by a newer period |
| Locked | A letter or report used these facts. Corrections require an amendment |
Record the first period
Section titled “Record the first period”- On the worker’s Employment tab, select Add employment period (or Start new terms in the header). Lexpoint starts a draft and opens Employment facts.
- Work through the three sections. Changes save automatically — a Saving / Saved chip shows the state.
- When every section is complete, select Confirm terms, check the summary under Confirm these terms?, and select Confirm terms again.

If the person’s own work history lists a job at an employer whose name matches yours, its title appears under Profile job match. Use this job → links it to this record.
Preview shows the latest saved terms at any point.
After you confirm, the person sees the confirmed terms in their own account — see Your employment record.
Correct a confirmed period
Section titled “Correct a confirmed period”Open the period from the Employment tab and select Edit this period. Use it for mistakes or missing details in the same period; it does not create a new one. Select Save correction when done.
Edit this period is not offered once the period is Locked, and older periods that a newer one has replaced are read-only.
Start new terms
Section titled “Start new terms”Use this for a raise, a new title, new hours, or a move to another site.
- On the Employment tab, select Start new terms.
- Choose New terms start on. The hint shows the earliest allowed date — for example, when a letter already issued named the current role as current.
- Select Start period. The new draft opens. Fill it in and confirm it.
The current period stays in force until the new start date. Only one draft can be open at a time.
End employment
Section titled “End employment”- Open the current period and select End employment.
- Enter the Last day of work. The period covers through that day.
- Select End employment.
You cannot end a period while a draft of new terms is open. Finish that draft first.

Frequently asked questions
Does ending employment remove the person from my roster?
No. Ending a period closes that period only. The connection stays active and the person stays on your roster until they end the connection from their own account.
Can I edit a confirmed period?
Yes, with Edit this period, until a letter or report uses its facts. After that the period is locked and shows why.
How do I record a raise or a new job title?
Use Start new terms on the Employment tab. It opens a new period from the date you choose; the current period stays in force until then.
