Letter requests

/employer/letters·/employer/documents·Requires owner or HR role·Requires your identity check complete, to sign

Employees ask for letters from their own account. Lexpoint drafts each letter from the employment periods you confirmed, and you issue it by signing. Everything happens on Letters. The page says it plainly: Every issued letter is verifiable at lexpoint.io/v.

The cards at the top count Waiting for you (to sign, and still preparing) and Issued. Each request in the list shows:

  • the employee’s name
  • the kind of letter and what it covers
  • Identity confirmed or Identity not confirmed for the employee
  • the status, at the right
  • one line per letter in the request, with Preview draft →, Issued →, or a progress note
KindWhat it covers
Employment confirmationThe current role
Immigration-purpose letterCurrent role, Full history (one PDF), or Each role separately — the employee chooses

Which letter an application needs is not something Lexpoint decides. For that, see immigratic.com.

Letters waiting for your signature also appear on the dashboard and in Inbox.

Both identity checks must be complete:

What the request saysWhat is missing
Confirm your identity before signing this letter.Your own identity check. Confirm identity takes you to it
This person must confirm their identity before the letter can be issued. The employee’s identity check, which they complete in their own account

Hover the information icon next to the employee’s identity state for what the check covers. It is not an IRCC or police clearance.

While an immigration-purpose letter is Preparing or With employer, Letter extras lets you choose what the draft includes:

  • Employer identity
  • Scheduled hours

Both are on by default. Breaks in employment are always included. Change a box and select Update draft → to redraft.

  1. Select Preview draft → and read the draft.
  2. Select Sign to issue →.
  3. Choose Sign here → to draw your signature on screen, or Sign on phone → to scan a QR code and sign on your phone. On a phone, you go straight to drawing.
  4. When the signature is submitted, the request shows Issuing official letter…, then Issued.

Your letterhead is applied to the letter — see Letterhead and logo. Once issued, a letter cannot be changed or cancelled, and the employment periods it used are locked.

Select Decline →. Lexpoint asks for a reason, which is optional. The request becomes Declined, and the employee sees your reason on their request.

A request can be declined while it is Preparing, With employer, or With RCIC, not after it is issued.

Every issued letter is listed under Documents → Issued letters, with its LP- code and date. Open opens the PDF. The Company tile on the same page lists your letterhead files.

The employee’s side of a request is described in Requesting an employment letter.

Frequently asked questions

Can I start a letter for an employee?

No. Letters start with the employee's request from their own account. The New letter button on the Letters page is not active.

Why can I not sign a letter?

Two identity checks must be complete — yours and the employee's. The request shows which one is missing.

Where do issued letters go?

They stay on the request, marked Issued, and are listed under Documents → Issued letters. The employee downloads the same letter from their account.

The facts in the draft are wrong. What do I do?

Fix the employment period, not the letter. Letters are drafted from confirmed periods. A period that a letter has already used is locked.
