# Service types

A proposal offers a **service**, and services differ in one way that matters more than any other:
**who files the application.**

## The ladder

| Service | Who does the work | Who files |
|---|---|---|
| **ImmiCoach** | Self-serve — the tools, without professional review | You |
| **Case Review** | Licensed professionals review the package you have built | You |
| **Full Representation** | Licensed professionals prepare, package, and file | Your representative |

Each rung adds professional involvement. The choice is not about how good your file is — it is about
how much of the work you want to carry, and who is accountable for the filing.

### Case Review

A licensed professional examines what you have assembled and tells you where it is wrong or thin.
You keep control, and **you submit the application yourself**.

- Case Studio and AI analysis
- A professional reviews your package
- You file when ready

### Full Representation

The firm takes the file. They prepare it, assemble the package, submit it, and stay with it after
submission — responding to requests from IRCC and managing it through to a decision.

- Case Studio and AI analysis
- Professionals prepare, package, and file
- Professionals manage the case to a decision

### ImmiCoach

The self-serve rung: the tooling and generated forms without professional review. **Not yet
available** — it appears on service ladders marked as coming, so you can see the rung you are not
buying.

## Why what you are offered differs

There is no single national menu. Each firm defines, **per application type**,
which services it offers, what it calls them, and what each one covers. A definition can also cap
how many family members a service includes.

So two applicants can see different options for reasons that have nothing to do with their files:

- the firms writing their proposals differ
- the application types differ — a firm may offer Full Representation for one programme and Case
  Review only for another
- family size — a service may be scoped to a principal applicant, or to a specific number of
  dependants

Your proposal is written against that firm's service definitions. If a service you expected is
missing, that is the question to ask them after you have a live agreement — see
[Lexpoint and professional advice](/individuals/consultations/who-advises-you/).

## Self-managed cases

Not every case is a purchased service. A **self-managed** case is a workspace for an application you
are handling entirely on your own: Case Studio, documents, requirements, and a timeline, with **no
Agreement, Payments, or Statement**, because nothing is being billed and no one has been retained.

:::caution[Not available yet]
Creating one is marked **Coming soon** on the new-case screen and cannot be selected. Today every
case begins with an accepted proposal, so a self-managed case is a shape the product supports rather
than a route you can take. Existing self-managed cases continue to work.

## Where the service is fixed

The service named in your proposal is what the retainer commits both sides to. It sets what appears
in your case afterwards — which tabs exist, who prepares the forms, and who submits. Changing it
later means a new proposal.

## Frequently asked questions

### What is the difference between Case Review and Full Representation?

Who files. Under Case Review a licensed professional prepares and reviews your package and you submit it yourself. Under Full Representation the firm prepares, packages, files, and manages the application through to a decision.

### Why was I not offered a service I read about here?

Each firm decides which services it offers, and for which application types. A service can also cap how many family members it covers. What you are offered comes from the firm writing the proposal and the application in question.

### Can I track an application I am handling entirely myself?

Not yet. Self-managed cases exist in the product, but creating one is marked Coming soon on the new-case screen, so today every case starts from an accepted proposal.
