The form has four sections — **Location**, **Institution**, **Program**, and **Credential assessment** (shown as **ECA** in the navigation). Appears for study outside Canada. | Yes for foreign study | Canadian study does not ask for a city here — it comes from the school you pick in the next section. ## Section 2 — Institution What this section asks depends on the country and the degree level. **Canadian post-secondary.** A search over the official DLI directory, by institution name, city, province, or DLI number. Picking a school fills in the institution name, city, province, and DLI number, and the panel below reads *Filled from the DLI directory.* A Canadian post-secondary record without a DLI number is rejected. If you have not chosen a degree level yet, a link offers **Entering a Canadian high school instead?**, which switches to manual entry. **Canadian high school and all foreign study.** Manual fields instead of the DLI search. | Field | What it means | Required | |---|---|---| | **Institution Name** | The full name of the school. That is derived from the records you enter, not chosen. ::: ## Section 4 — Credential assessment For a credential from Canada the section reads *Not required for Canadian credentials* and asks nothing. For everywhere else: | Field | What it means | Required | |---|---|---| | **I have an ECA** | Toggle — *Educational Credential Assessment — required for most immigration programs*. | No | | **ECA Provider** | WES, ICAS, CES, IQAS, or ICES. Appears when the toggle is on. | Yes when you have an ECA | | **ECA Equivalency** | Doctoral degree (PhD), Master's degree, Bachelor's degree (3+ years), Two-year degree/diploma, One-year degree/diploma, or Secondary school (High school) — the Canadian equivalent stated on the assessment. Appears when the toggle is on. | Yes when you have an ECA | | **ECA Date** | The date on the assessment. Cannot be in the future. | No | The equivalency is the level your ECA report gives your credential, which can differ from the degree level you selected in the Program section. Enter what the report says. ## The list Four tiles sit above the list: **Total**, **Canadian**, **Foreign**, and **Highest level**. One card carries a **Highest level** chip. A Canadian record that came from the DLI directory can also show a **DLI eligibility** panel with a **PGWP** chip, drawn from Lexpoint's DLI data for that institution. ## Adding and editing 1. Open [**Profile → Education**](https://my.lexpoint.io/app/profile/education). 2. Select **Add Education**. 3. Work through Location, Institution, Program, and ECA. The last section's button saves. 4. On the list, the pencil icon reopens a credential. An **Export** menu offers a spreadsheet, readable JSON, and machine JSON. Canadian post-secondary schools must be selected from the official DLI directory, which supplies the DLI number, city, and province. The form says so directly — free-text names are not enough for Canadian post-secondary. Canadian high schools are the exception, because they are not on the DLI list. ### Do I need an ECA for a Canadian credential? The Credential assessment section does not appear for a credential from Canada — it reads "Not required for Canadian credentials." ### Can I record a programme I am still studying? Yes. Turn on "Currently studying". The graduation date and programme length are then not asked for.
