Quote with attribution and a link to the canonical URL. --- # Case events ## What this page lists These are the events that reach **you** — the ones that appear on your timeline, plus the few that reach you another way and are called out where they occur. A case records much more than this. The rest is marked internal and kept for audit and compliance rather than shown; see [Events you will not see](#events-you-will-not-see) at the end. ## What each event means The timeline groups events into two phases, the same two the product uses: **Pre-submission** — everything up to the application being filed — and **Post-submission**, everything that happens afterwards. The boundary is the day the application was submitted. The **Needs you** column is the part worth reading. Most of a timeline is a record of things that happened, not a list of things to do. ## Pre-submission ### Getting set up | Event | What it means | Needs you | |---|---|---| | **Case created** | The case was opened. | No | | **Applicant added** | Someone was added to the case — you, a spouse, a dependant. | No | | **Application created** | An application was started inside the case. | No | ### Profile and EOI For programmes where you sit in a pool before applying. | Event | What it means | Needs you | |---|---|---| | **Profile / EOI submitted** | Your profile entered the pool. | No | | **Score recorded** | A score was recorded against your profile. | No | | **Invitation received** | You were invited to apply. | **Yes** — an invitation carries a deadline | | **Profile / EOI expired** | The profile reached the end of its life in the pool. | No | | **Profile / EOI withdrawn** | The profile was withdrawn from the pool. | No | ### Documents and the package | Event | What it means | Needs you | |---|---|---| | **Document accepted** | A file you provided was accepted. | No | | **Changes requested on a document** | A file came back needing changes. | **Yes** — open the requirement and provide a corrected file | | **Package ready for your review** | A submission package is waiting for you to look at it. | **Yes** | | **Package confirmed for filing** | You confirmed the package. It is locked. | No | :::note[Messages are not timeline events] Messages on a case are recorded as events, but deliberately kept off the timeline — otherwise a busy conversation would bury everything else. You read them where they belong, in the conversation on the case or on the requirement itself. The checklist locks at this point, and this is the boundary between the two phases. | No | | **Application acknowledged** | Receipt was acknowledged. | No | | **Application under review** | The application moved into review. | No | | **Application reopened** | Post-submission work was opened on the application. | Yes — only the current request is editable | | **Application resubmitted** | The application was filed again after being reopened. | No | | **Application deferred** | Processing was deferred. | No | | **Application cancelled** | The application was cancelled. | No | | **Application approved** | A positive final decision was recorded. The application becomes read-only. | No | | **Application refused** | A negative final decision was recorded. The application becomes read-only. | Your representative will contact you | | **Application withdrawn** | The application was withdrawn and closed. | No | | **Final decision recorded** | A legacy entry from before decisions were split into approved and refused. Only appears on older cases. | No | ### Government requests Recorded as they happen on the file with IRCC or the province. If one appears, expect your representative to be in touch, and check the case for a new requirement. ::: ### Progress along the way | Event | What it means | Needs you | |---|---|---| | **AOR received** | An acknowledgement of receipt was received. | No | | **Interim work authorization** | Interim work authorization was recorded. | No | | **Webform sent** | A webform was sent on your file. | No | | **Webform confirmed** | Its receipt was confirmed. | No | | **Nomination approved** | A provincial nomination was approved. | No | | **Nomination refused** | A provincial nomination was refused. | Your representative will contact you | | **Pre-arrival letter received** | A pre-arrival letter arrived. | No | | **COPR process started** | The confirmation-of-permanent-residence stage opened. | No | | **COPR request responded** | A response was sent in that stage. | No | | **Landing invitation received** | A landing invitation arrived. | No | | **COPR issued** | The confirmation was issued. | No | ### Tracker readings Three entries record what the government's own tracker is showing, rather than something that happened to your file. They exist because the tracker often moves before anything is communicated. | Event | What it means | Needs you | |---|---|---| | **Ghost update** | The tracker changed with no stated reason. Something was touched on the government side, but nothing says what. It is logged because it often precedes news — it is not itself news, and not an instruction. | No | | **Decision made shown in tracker** | The tracker indicates a decision has been made, before the decision itself has been communicated. It does not say which way. | No | | **Decision document visible** | The decision document became visible. | No | :::caution[A ghost update is not a result] It is a movement with no explanation attached. Reading one as good or bad news is guesswork. If it matters for your situation, that is a question for your representative rather than for the timeline. ::: :::note[What the timeline does not say] An event records that something happened and when. It does not tell you what it means for your eligibility, how long the next step takes, or what the outcome will be. For that, ask your representative in the case conversation, or read [immigratic.com](https://www.immigratic.com). ::: ## Events you will not see A case records considerably more than it shows you. Every upload, deletion, review decision, exclusion, move, form generation, package seal, assignment change, checklist regeneration, proposal change, and internal note is written down — but marked internal, and kept off your timeline. Those records exist for audit, quality control, and proof of compliance: who did what to your file and when, in a form that can be produced later. They are not hidden from you to keep you in the dark; they are the working record of a professional file, and putting them on your timeline would bury the handful of things that actually concern you under hundreds that do not. You see their effects rather than the entries themselves — on the Documents and Forms tabs, and on the case overview tiles.
