# Your case

A case opens when a retainer is signed. From then on it is the shared surface between you and your
representative: they set out what is required, you provide it, and the two of you converge on a
package that gets submitted to IRCC or a province.

Case Studio is the screen where that happens. Most of what you are asked to do will be a
**requirement** — a specific document or answer, with a status you can see at any time.

Fees on a case have their own home: the **Payments** and **Statement** tabs are covered in
[Payments and invoices](/individuals/proposals/payments-and-invoices/), alongside the first payment
that opened the case.
