# Privacy and your data

Your data controls live at
[**Settings → Privacy & Data**](https://my.lexpoint.io/app/settings/privacy). The **Export** tab has
two downloads: a résumé PDF of the facts in your profile, and a spreadsheet or JSON dump of the same
profile. The **Remove** tab is for [removing your profile](/individuals/account/delete-account/).

## Downloading a résumé

The résumé is not a second copy of your profile. It is composed from the same records you already
keep — name and contact, work, education, and certificates — so a professional summary and your
immigration file stay in step.

You can download it from two places:

1. [**Profile**](https://my.lexpoint.io/app/profile) — **Download résumé** in the title row
2. [**Settings → Privacy & Data**](https://my.lexpoint.io/app/settings/privacy) — the first card on
   the **Export** tab

Press **Download résumé**. The button reads *Preparing…* while the PDF is built, then the file
downloads and a toast reads *Résumé downloaded*.

The PDF lists **Work Experience** (most recent end date first; current jobs as Present),
**Education**, and **Licences and certificates**. A job title that has a NOC includes it. Empty
sections are omitted. The footer carries your name, the page number, and *powered by lexpoint.io*.

It does not include family members, language-test scores, job offers, letters of acceptance, annual
income, or invented duty bullets. Those stay on your profile and, where they belong, in the
spreadsheet or JSON dump below.

The button appears once your profile has a first or last name, or at least one job, school, or
certificate. Otherwise the card reads *Add work or education first* with a link **Add work →**.

:::note[Edit the profile, not a résumé]
There is no separate résumé to update. Change a job or credential on
[your profile](/individuals/profile/), then download again.

## Exporting your profile

**Export Profile Data** downloads *your immigration profile including personal info, family members,
work history, education, and language tests*.

1. Open the **Export** tab.
2. Choose a format — **Excel** or **JSON**. Excel is selected by default.
3. If you chose JSON, choose an output style (see below).
4. Press **Download Profile Data**. The button reads *Preparing export...* while the file is built,
   then the download starts.

### Choosing a format

| Format | The panel calls it | Choose it when |
|---|---|---|
| **Excel** | Spreadsheet | You want to read, sort, or print your own data. This is the default. |
| **JSON** | Structured data | Another tool, system, or person's script will read the file. |

### JSON output style

This choice appears only when JSON is selected.

| Style | The panel says | Choose it when |
|---|---|---|
| **Human-Readable** | *IRCC-style labels & field order. Best for reviewing your data or sharing with consultants.* | A person will read it |
| **Machine-Readable** | *Canonical keys for AI agents & integrations. Best for automation workflows.* | Software will read it |

The style is recorded in the filename, so a folder of past exports stays unambiguous.

### What is included

The panel lists exactly five sections:

- **Personal information** — marked *Sanitized*
- **Family members** — marked *Sanitized*
- **Work history & experience**
- **Education credentials**
- **Language test results**

That is the whole scope of this export. It is your profile — the answers Lexpoint calculates from —
not your case file, and not the résumé PDF.

:::note[You need a profile before you can export one]
With no profile data, the panel reads *Create your ImmiReport profile first to export data* and
offers to start one. See [your profile](/individuals/profile/).
:::

## Who can see your data

Exporting tells you what Lexpoint holds about your profile. It does not tell you who else can reach
it — that is a separate question with a separate answer, and it is the one most worth checking.
Every organization, partner, household member, and shared link with access to your file is listed at
[Access and sharing](/individuals/account/access-and-sharing/).

## Frequently asked questions

### Is the résumé a second document I have to keep up to date?

No. Lexpoint composes it from your profile when you press Download résumé. Edit a job, school, or certificate on your profile and the next PDF matches.

### What is the difference between the résumé and Export Profile Data?

The résumé is a professional PDF of name, contact, work, education, and certificates. Export Profile Data is a spreadsheet or JSON dump of your immigration profile, including family members and language tests. They are not the same file.

### What format should I choose for my export?

Excel if you want to read it yourself — it is the default. JSON if a tool or another system will consume it. JSON then offers a Human-Readable style with IRCC-style labels, or a Machine-Readable style with canonical keys for integrations.

### Does either download include my documents?

No. Neither the résumé nor the profile dump includes case files, uploaded documents, or timelines. Download those from the case itself.

### Why does the export say some sections are "Sanitized"?

Personal information and family members are marked Sanitized in the panel. Nothing else about the export changes.
